Corporate Donations
Canadian Nurses Foundation now offers a new gift model that provides corporate donors with increased visibility through our website, newsletter and Biennial events.
Endowments
An endowment is a fund where the principal is invested by Canadian Nurses Foundation and the investment income is available each year to carry out a donor’s wishes. For example, a donor might endow $75,000 to CNF, with the investment income each year going towards a nursing award.
Endowments can be made during a donor’s lifetime, or as a legacy gift.
Legacy Giving
Canadian Nurses Foundation reaches out to nursing champions who are interested in making legacy gifts, ensuring that CNF’s vision for superior patient outcomes is realized.
Securities
These include marketable securities, bonds and mutual funds, an exciting option for the savvy investor, and can result in substantial contributions for CNF scholarships and research. As the capital gains tax is not applicable, the tax benefits for the donor provide an added incentive to make a donation.
Gifts-in-kind
Goods and services that can be used for charitable purposes may be made to CNF in lieu of cash. Examples might include printing services, consulting, custodial and/or investment fees on endowments.
Every two years, CNF hosts an event as part of the Canadian Nurses Association Biennial Celebrations. The CNF event typically involves a Silent Auction. CNF seeks items for auction from March-June every second year. Gifts-in-kind can be just about anything, provided the gift is approved by CNF. Examples of silent auction items might include gift bags, personal care products, entertainment packages, gift certificates for restaurants, clothing, and activities, artwork and much more. All gift-in-kind donors will receive a tax receipt based on the full fair market value of the gift, and will also be featured on the CNF website.
The next call for Silent Auction gifts-in-kind will be for the 2010 event. Stay tuned!
