Dr. Nagle teaches in undergraduate and graduate programs focused in nursing, health administration and informatics. In addition, she has her own health informatics consulting practice, Nagle & Associates, Inc., and is currently Editor-in-Chief for the Canadian Journal of Nursing Leadership. Known internationally for her work in health and nursing informatics, she has many publications and presentations to her credit. Dr. Nagle’s work has been recognized nationally and internationally for her contributions to nursing and health informatics including:

CNA’s Centennial Nurse Award in 2008 and 150 Nurses for Canada in 2017; Canada’s Health Informatics Association’s inaugural Leadership award in 2005 and Clinical Leadership award in 2014; Distinguished Alumni award, University of Rochester, and induction into the American Academy of Nursing in 2015; and one of the top 10 Women Leaders in Digital Health in Canada in 2017.

  • Taught first graduate nursing course in Informatics in Canada, 1995
  • Among the first nurse Chief Information Officers in Canada, 1998
  • Established Canadian Nursing Informatics Association, 2002
  • Led the first national study of informatics in Canadian Schools of Nursing, 2002
  • Chaired the first national Nursing Informatics conference, 2005
  • Led the development of Certificate Program in Health informatics, George Brown College, 2005-07
  • Participated in the development of the Masters in Health Informatics, Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto, 2006-08
  • Developed and led National Institute on Nursing Informatics, annually 2011-2019
  • Led the development of the CASN Entry-to-Practice Informatics Competencies for Registered Nurses, 2011-12
  • Led development of Informatics Toolkit for Nurse Educators, RNAO, 2012
  • Led Digital Health Faculty Peer Network, CASN, 2014-2017
  • Co-led development of online Masters of Nursing in Health Service Leadership & Administration, Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto, 2015
  • Led development of Certificate Program in Nursing Informatics in Jerusalem College of Technology, 2015-17
  • Led the 2nd national study of Informatics in Canadian Schools of Nursing, 2018
  • Co-leader of the National Nursing Data Standards initiative, 2016-present
  • Led the development of the CASN Digital Health eResource, 2018-19
