Dr. Anne Snowdon is a Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the University of Windsor’s Odette School of Business; Academic Chair of the World Health Innovation Network (WIN); and Scientific Director and CEO of SCAN Health, a Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) International Knowledge Translation Platform. Dr. Snowdon’s career began as a pedicatric intensive care after completing a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Western University. Following her graduate work, a MSc from McGill and a PhD from University of Michigan University, she was appointed Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Womens and Children’s Programs at Windsor Regional Hospital. Dr. Snowdon is a Fulbright Scholar and was recently inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing for contributions to exceptional achievements leading health system innovation, nationally and internationally, to improve the health and wellbeing of Canadians and global populations.

As a leading researcher in the federal NCE for automotive network, AUTO21,  she focussed on developing a program to keep children safe in vehicles. She was honoured to receive the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Partnership Award and NCE Chair’s President’s Medal for this work. Her desire to prevent crippling injuries and young lives lost in vehicle crashes led her to futher work with the automotive industry, who worked with parents and children to design and commercialize an innovative, award-winning booster seat that improves children’s safety while traveling in vehicles. She holds a number of patents, and this Canadian made safety seat, The ClekTM  ,  is a very successful Canadian company today.

Dr. Snowdon leads a ground-breaking program of research focused on accelerating adoption of innovation at scale to transform health systems to create value for Canadians. She leads over 15 research initiatives across nine Canadian provinces that engage government, health professionals, private industry, foundations and families to advance quality, safety and sustainability of health systems, while creating new models of care delivery that improve population health. She leads a global network, SCAN Health, to disseminate new knowledge and enable cross jurisdiction learning to accelerate supply chain transformation across global health systems. Supply chain infrastructure in health systems enable traceability of every care process and product used during care delivery, linked to patient outcomes to create real-world evidence of care processes and products that offer the best outcomes for Canadians and reduce the risk of medical error. Dr. Snowdon is working with the Canadian and British Joint Registry teams to create artificial intelligence tools that can predict care pathways that will achieve the best outcomes for patients requiring hip replacement surgery.

Currently, Dr. Snowdon is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Alberta Innovates, a member for the Health Futures Council at Arizona State University and the Director of Clinical Research at HIMSS Analytics. She holds Adjunct Faculty positions at the Faculty of of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark; the Department of Computer Science at the University of Windsor; the School of Nursing at Dalhousie University; and the School of Nursing at Swinburne University in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Snowdon has published more than 140 research articles, papers and cases, and has received over $22 million in research funding.
