CNF Diversity Award

I have been passionate about health care since my childhood days, but was unable to identify the education I wanted to pursue until I was 16 years old.  An incident that took place in an orphanage helped me narrow in on my undergraduate major, and inevitably paved the path to my career as a nurse.  As a part of a school trip, I visited a missionary run institution that provided free services to abandoned citizens including babies, young children, youth, adults and elderly people.  Most of them suffered with various physical or mental illnesses and disabilities.

However there was an overwhelming source of happiness and positivity radiating through the center.  It was the tireless service of the nurse nuns that invigorated the inmates with their joy, camaraderie, and healing words.  These nuns attended to the sick in hospitals, clinics and served them in their terminal stage of life.  Although many among the caretakers also suffered from various maladies, it did not curb their aspiration to care for the destitute in their home.  This experience ignited the spark in my inner self to serve and heal.  I accepted my calling to help and comfort the sick as a nurse.

As the years pass, my education and experience continue adding to my insight as a nurse.  I would like to study for Ph.D. and progress as an educator.  I have a desire to open up a long-term care and youth health centre.

I continue to love the work and satisfaction I am given by every smile I can help put on a patient’s face.
