CNSA Community Involvement Award
I knew I wanted to be a nurse as soon as I attended my mother’s first chemotherapy
session in 2023. From the way that they cared for her as an individual to the communication
between the team, I was instantly put at ease during what was the hardest period of my life.
Caring for my mother during her seven months of treatment was grueling, but it lit a fire inside
of me to provide a positive, uplifting and compassionate environment for my future patients. I
am committed to changing lives and making patients and families alike feel comfortable in
vulnerable moments, and support them emotionally and mentally like the nurses at BC Cancer
did for my mother and I. My areas of interest include Oncology, Emergency, and Labour +
Delivery; my horizons are broad and I am not ruling out any department in the future. However,
my personality and desires to make a long-term impact in people’s lives align more with
Oncology and the possibility of continuing my education to become a Nurse Practitioner.
