CNSA Community Involvement Award
My name is Megha Jose, and I am in my final year of the BScN After Degree Honors program at the University of Alberta. For my honours research project, I worked with Dr. Jordana Salma to qualitatively explore mobility factors among older racialized immigrant women in Edmonton. My passion for aging and health equity began during my previous degree in psychology, where I conducted research in both pediatric and geriatric neurocognitive development.
Growing up in a multigenerational household gave me an early, honest window into the realities of aging in Canadian society. It fostered a deep interest in the unique aging experiences of women, BIPOC, and other marginalized communities.
This background naturally led me toward health education and literacy, especially related to aging populations. Pursuing nursing has broadened my perspective on health and wellness, and the BScN Honors program has deepened my understanding of the intersections between research, practice, and advocacy.
I am deeply grateful to the Canadian Nurses Foundation for this award. It is an incredible honour to be recognized and supported for my commitment to nursing research for communities. This award affirms the path I have chosen, encouraging me as an upcoming nursing graduate to continue serving and practicing for individual and collective wellbeing.
