Robin Klassen

CNSA Impact Award

I am a passionate and ambitious student starting my fourth year in nursing at Selkirk College and the University of Victoria. I was born and raised in the communities surrounding Kootenay Lake in British Columbia and I am dedicated to improving the health and wellness of those communities through my nursing career. I have an extensive history of volunteerism that includes work in veterinary medicine, wildlife research, wildlife rehabilitation, managing a women’s art co-operative in Honduras, serving as an elected delegate for the Selkirk College chapter of the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association and extending to my current position at Options for Sexual Health in Nelson. I balance my academic commitments with several hobbies including gardening, cooking, knitting, sewing, soapmaking, traveling, and caring for my animals.

I am looking forward to a career in nursing in the Kootenays, and I am currently pursuing a specialty education opportunity during the final year of my BSN program in which I am training to work in the operating room at Kootenay Lake Hospital after graduation next spring. After gaining some experience in nursing I would love to continue my education to become a nurse practitioner to expand my scope and be better equipped optimize the health of our community.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
