My name is Jaime Riley, and I’ve had the privilege of experiencing the nursing profession in many forms throughout my career. While much of my background is rooted in emergency medicine, both as a registered nurse and later as a nurse practitioner, I’ve also had the opportunity to work in hematology-oncology and, most recently, in academia.
What has always grounded me in nursing is the incredible honour of being there for people on some of the hardest days of their lives. Building therapeutic relationships during these vulnerable moments has been one of the most meaningful parts of my work and something I will always carry with me.
Over time, my passion for supporting people through their healthcare journeys with empathy and kindness naturally evolved into a passion for nursing education. I feel incredibly fortunate to now be in a position where I can help guide and mentor future nurses as they prepare to step into this important and rewarding profession.
Whether at the bedside or in the classroom, my commitment has always been the same: to lead with compassion, kindness, and nurture the next generation of nurses who will go on to make a real difference in people’s lives.
