Stoddart Scholarship
With a background in Health Sciences and a Master’s in Health Policy, I bring a strong academic foundation and a deep commitment to health equity to my nursing practice. Prior to entering nursing, I worked as a federal policy analyst at the Public Health Agency of Canada, where I contributed to national health initiatives and developed a broad understanding of systemic health care challenges. My passion for direct patient care led me to pivot into nursing, where I could combine policy knowledge with hands-on clinical work.
Throughout my academic and professional journey, I’ve demonstrated leadership through community-based advocacy especially in women’s and reproductive health. I’ve led grassroots initiatives to increase body literacy among my peers and volunteered with vulnerable populations at WISH Drop-In Centre and Options for Sexual Health. These roles have sharpened my skills in cultural humility, patient advocacy, and trauma-informed care.
Now pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I’m focused on maternal and reproductive health. My future goals include working in labor and delivery or postpartum care, while continuing to advocate for equitable access to healthcare. I also plan to pursue further education potentially in advanced nursing practice or medicine to expand my impact. At the heart of my work is a drive to empower patients, deliver compassionate care, and contribute to a more inclusive and responsive healthcare system.
