Daniel Stuart

Tylenol Canada Bursary Program Award

My name is Daniel Stuart; I am a Critical Care nurse working at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary. I am in my final year of the Master of Nursing/ Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Alberta. I first started nursing in 2020 during the COVID pandemic. Initially starting my career in Coronary Care (CCU), I was quickly redeployed to Intensive Care (ICU) to support the influx of COVID patients and have stayed there ever since. I was inspired to pursue a career in nursing by my mother, who has recently retired after a 40-year career in pediatric nursing. My desire to advance my education further has been a long-standing goal of mine. I have personally been managed by several incredible Nurse Practitioners (NPs) for my own health issues; I have also worked with many talented NPs in my nursing career. Their skill and dedication have inspired me to pursue graduate studies. I am passionate about Critical Care Nursing and intend on joining the Department of Critical Care Medicine as a Nurse Practitioner once I complete my program.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
