Rimma Alexeev

WeRPN Award in Nursing Excellence

My name is Rimma Alexeev, and I am a recent graduate of the RPN to BSCN bridging Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. I live in Hamilton, Ontario, and becoming a nurse has been a long and meaningful journey for me. I started nursing later in life as my second career.

First, I became a Registered Practical Nurse nearly four years ago and have since worked on nephrology and acute medicine floors, where I developed a strong foundation in clinical care, teamwork, and patient advocacy. At the same time, I went back to school to get BSCN as working in critical care became my dream and true passion. I graduated with distinction in April 2025 and am very proud of my achievements.

Outside of nursing, I’m a mother of five and grandmother of two. My youngest twins still live with me, and I cherish the joy and purpose of motherhood. I also enjoy spending time in nature, travelling, and taking care of my home.

I chose nursing because I wanted to make a real and lasting difference in people’s lives, and that motivation remains at the heart of everything I do. I’m excited to step fully into my role as a Registered Nurse, where I can continue to grow professionally, support my patients with compassion and competence, and keep growing as a nurse and as a person.

Giving Tuesday has become a global movement for giving and marks the beginning of the giving season for your favourite causes. Thank you for joining Canadian Nurses Foundation today as we celebrate our 10th annual campaign. Double your gift today!

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
