CNSA Diversability/Diversity Award
My name is Emily Lizée, and I am a 3rd-year student in the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor’s in the Science of Nursing program. I have wanted to become a registered nurse since I was ten years old. In 2010, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, along with other health challenges. My nurses were always there and were my rocks, besides my family. My nurses always advocated for me to receive the best care possible, and their kindness and compassion inspired me to become a nurse. I am currently completing my third year in the SCBScN program, including finishing my pediatric, maternity, and mental health rotations and my courses on family health and influencing leadership and change. I already completed my high acuity course. I think the accomplishments I am most proud of include being accepted into the program, maintaining an average above 80 % despite my health challenges and the challenges I have experienced with the pandemic, and being chosen as the Diversability/Diversity award recipient. This scholarship will enable me to reach my dream of becoming a registered nurse and fulfill my dream of becoming a pediatric or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse.
