CNSA Student Clinical Excellence Award
My name is Emma and I’m going into my fourth year of nursing at Queen’s University. I chose to pursue nursing because of my desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I hope to aid a range of clients throughout the lifespan, providing exceptional care and working with clients to help them achieve their goals. I believe that an individual is not defined, nor limited by their diagnosis/illness, and every patient needs to receive care that is centred around their individual needs. As such, my passion for nursing is rooted in family/patient-centred nursing care. Throughout my studies, I have remained on the Dean’s Honour List with Distinction and received accolades such as the CNF Nightingale Award (2020), A.J. Baumgart Outstanding Achievement Award and the Queen’s Appeal Undergraduate Scholarship (2019). Outside of academics, I work in the School of Nursing as a Simulation Lab Assistant and volunteer at academic and transition support programs at Queen’s University. Over the past two summers, I have been working in long-term care as a PSW to further my skills as a healthcare provider. I am most proud of my decision to pursue nursing, where I can foster my passion of helping others.
