CNSA Education & Research Award

My interest to pursue nursing initially sparked in my childhood when my grandmother, a neonatal nurse of 36 years shared stories of her nursing experience with warm-hearted moments and hardships. Her empathetic quality along with the respect and gratitude she received from her patients and their families inspired me to pursue a degree in nursing. I am currently entering my third year of the Bachelor of Nursing Collaborative program at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Some moments that have stood out to me these past couple years were making the Dean’s List, observing my first childbirth, learning the importance of patient-centred care, listening to heart sounds, and witnessing life, death and everything in between all in the midst of a global pandemic. I am most proud of the strong friendships I have built with other like-minded nursing students who have been with me through the difficult, challenging, happy and memorable times. I am incredibly honored to be receiving the CNSA Education and Research Award and am looking forward to the experiences that the next year will bring.
