Nurses are well positioned to lead the way in health care transformation by being a part of the interprofessional team; to do this effectively, nurses need an advanced set of knowledge, skills, and attitudes around patient-centered care and quality improvement. Historically, nursing has a history of producing many influential leaders that have moved the profession forward and advocated for excellence in clinical care. I am proud to be a part of this exciting, growing field and it was for this reason that I decided to pursue a doctorate degree in nursing. I am currently a rehabilitation research fellow at Parkwood Institute and Registered Nurse in emergency medicine in London, Ontario. I am completing my third year of doctoral studies in nursing at Western University. I am most proud of obtaining a national level nursing award through CNF, as well as earning the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship from the Government of Canada.
