AstraZeneca Award

I am a registered nurse (RN) and a doctoral student in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. Clinically, I have worked as an RN in various roles and continue to work casually in the peritoneal dialysis clinic throughout my studies. My grandmother was a nurse, my mother is a nurse, so naturally I gravitated to the nursing profession. I love the unique, critical role that RNs play and how the diversity of our roles allows us to have meaningful impact in a range of settings and levels in healthcare.

I aspire to be a clinician scientist, driving innovative and impactful research based on my clinical work. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and conducting research that improves healthcare systems for both patients and their families as well as for those working in healthcare. My doctoral research focuses on finding ways to best support people who manage complex care in home settings with the goal of creating a positive and sustainable care experience. I will focus specifically on co-designing person-centered models of care for people transitioning to home dialysis. I am honored to be a Canadian Nurses Foundation Scholar and am exceptionally thankful to have received the AstraZeneca Award to support my studies.
