Dr. Dorothy Kergin Award

Em Pijl-Zieber, BScN, MEd, RN teaches community health nursing theory and clinical courses in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Lethbridge. Her community health practice background includes working with marginalized inner city and First Nations populations as well as seniors. Through her doctoral studies, Em is currently exploring community health clinical education delivery models and finding ways to enhance student learning in the undergraduate community health experience. Em is passionate about preparing students for community health practice. Em is grateful for the generous support of the Canadian Nurses Foundation as she pursues her studies. The nursing profession is poised to make even greater contributions to the health of Canadians and through enhancing community health clinical education and mobilizing students to make a difference in their communities, Em believes that the health of all will be positively impacted.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
