Award Recipient

Magdalene Mo

Rx&D Award

My name is Magdalene Mo and I am currently a Registered Nurse at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton.  I am passionate about oncology nursing and have always wanted to pursue further education in this field.  This award allows me to attain this goal by alleviating some of the financial burden associated with graduate studies. My passion for oncology nursing began when my father was diagnosed with MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome) nine years ago. He received chemotherapy treatment as well as a bone marrow transplant. During his treatments, I was privy to observing many excellent nurses who were compassionate, confident, and competent in their care of my father.  I was inspired by the caring attitude and dedication demonstrated by these nurses, but also by the steadfast strength of the cancer patients and their families.  Since then, my interests have been concentrated in oncology nursing. Although I am excited to start a new chapter in my life, I am also sad to leave my current work.  It has been a blessing to share my knowledge and experiences with patients and their families. I look forward to this new and exciting endeavor and have no doubt that I will grow from this experience. I hope that through my undertakings as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Oncology that I will have a positive impact on cancer patients and their families.

This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses.
