Tracy Truant

TD Meloche Monnex Award

Tracy is a doctoral student in the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia (UBC) under the supervision of Dr. Sally Thorne. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 1988, and a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 1998 at the University of British Columbia. Over the past 20 years, Tracy has held a variety of oncology practice, education and leadership roles at local, provincial, and national levels. During this time, Tracy also has been actively involved in numerous research projects, publications, and presentations regarding complementary medicine (CAM) and cancer. Her research has focused mainly on understanding and supporting CAM decision making in the context of cancer treatment and care. Building on this previous research and extensive clinical knowledge, her dissertation research will focus on health promotion within the cancer survivorship population, with the aim to inform the development of resources and survivorship models of care. Tracy is honored to be awarded the Canadian Nurses Foundation TD Meloche Monnex Scholarship. “I feel grateful and humbled to be acknowledged for my contributions to date, as well as a sense of responsibility to continue to do good work to contribute to improving the health of Canadians through research”.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses.
