Award Recipient

Alyssa Cahill

Margaret F. Munro Award

I am honored to be this year’s recipient of the Margaret F. Munro Award. This upcoming year I am entering my final year of the UPEI nursing program and I am so excited to begin my nursing career. I have learned so much in this program and look forward to continuing to gain more knowledge and experience as I finish up my last year and move on to becoming a registered nurse. One of the things I love most about the nursing profession is that there are many different paths you can take and no matter which one you choose, there will be countless learning opportunities. During my time in the nursing program, my passion for helping others has grown greatly. I believe that providing person-centered and individualized care is essential when caring for patients. I hope to provide the best care possible while helping patients have a positive hospital experience. I aspire to support patients and their families through difficult times while providing education to expand their knowledge and help empower them to live healthier lives. I look forward to becoming a nurse as taking care of others gives me a sense of purpose, which makes this career so rewarding. I hope that throughout my nursing career I can have a positive impact on the lives of my patients and I am proud to be a part of the evolving field that is nursing. I am so grateful to be the recipient of this award. My time in the nursing program has been a journey with many ups and downs and during this time I have had the opportunity to learn so much. I love working with people and am passionate about providing quality care. My goal is to make my patients feel safe and cared for, while creating trusting relationships. I hope to have a positive impact on my patients and create an environment that allows for a positive hospital experience. As well, I love the variety that comes with being a nurse. There are so many paths that you can take in nursing and there is so much to learn. I am excited to graduate and enter the field of nursing!

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
