Innovative Medicine Canada Award
My name is Isadora Donoso, and I am extremely grateful to be selected as a CNF scholar for 2022/2023 intake. I have been a Registered Nurse for 6 years and am currently a 1st year masters student in the University of Victoria Nurse Practitioner program.
I became a nurse because I have always felt drawn to the needs of others. My areas of interest are in substance use services, as well as sexual health. I believe nurses are uniquely situated to make a meaningful impact in the health care system, as well as people’s lives and their health journeys. I have had the privilege of caring for, as well as alongside, the most amazing people in my nursing career that have taught me about compassion, resilience, and advocacy.
The nursing field is dynamic, flexible, and incredibly diverse in the options for areas of interest. I have found ample support in this field that continues to foster my professional and academic curiosities. Through the pandemic, I have witnessed the ways in which nursing transcends the individual and makes an impact at the community and systemic level. It truly is a profession like no other. Every day, I am grateful for the opportunities this profession has given me, as well as the positive effect it has had on me as a health care worker, leader, and person.
Thank you to the Canadian Nurses Foundation for this incredible opportunity!
