Latifa Saidi

NANB/TD Meloche Monnex Centennial Doctoral Scholarship

I feel fortunate to be a member of the nursing profession for almost 13 years now. I chose nursing because I am passionate about helping others. My career choice was motivated by my desire to care for people. I also decided to become a nurse because the profession offers a wealth of opportunities, including the possibility of furthering my education. After two years as a bedside nurse in the maternity ward, a field I really love, I enjoyed taking on some of the challenges that come with this work. This led me to pursue a master’s degree in nursing with the aim to support nurses in understanding some of the problems that come with setting up a breastfeeding routine. This exciting experience inspired me to begin a PhD in Health Sciences at Université de Sherbrooke where I feel fulfilled. My doctoral research is focused on the impact of physical exercise on the health of mothers and their newborns.

Currently, I share my passion as a nursing educator at Université de Moncton. I teach theoretical and clinical courses at the undergraduate level, more specifically in perinatal nursing. In the community, I was involved in various initiatives, including activities related to breastfeeding.

I am so grateful to CNF and NANB for granting me such a prestigious award and recognizing my research and leadership potential. This scholarship will enable me to advance in my doctoral studies.
