CNF – EMPOWERING IENs

I am a Registered Nurse in the Philippines. When I took the Philippine licensure exam in 2008, I scored the 7th highest score out of tens of thousands of examinees nationwide.  It is indeed a great pride. However, when I came to Canada, I learned that I still have to undergo a long, arduous and expensive process to practice my profession. It is very challenging. So I worked as a Patient Care Aide in a retirement facility to support myself and my bridging program to practice as an RN in Canada. Working full time while studying is very exhausting.

The award from CNF will help me in huge proportions. I can now give my full attention to nursing and give my one hundred percent to make a positive impact to the lives of my patients and their families. More than financial assistance, the grant gave me hope and empowerment. Knowing that there are people who recognize my academic abilities and are willing to lend a hand, I am now more encouraged to advance my studies and take my masters and be a nurse practitioner in the near future so I can contribute more to the nursing profession in Canada. Thank you CNF and RBC!

This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses.
