TD Aboriginal Nursing Award – Baccalaureate
I want to make a difference in my life, and the lives of others as Aboriginal health care professional. I want to be a good role model for my children, my entire family, and community. I really enjoy taking care of people and making them feel their best; that why I chose nursing as my career choice. I’m very passionate about helping people and giving them the love and care they need. I look forward to finishing my degree so, I can teach Aboriginal people ways to protect themselves from health issues.
I will be the first one in my family to get a degree, so I hope my goal in life will inspire other people that they can do it as well. For my future employment, I hope to work in northern communities all over Manitoba.
I am committed to First Nation health care. I come from a reserve and I have seen how much people suffer, everything from health issues (eg. diabetes, heart disease, STD’), suicide, and substance abuse. I want to be able to make a change and hope that people see that I have succeeded, and since they have come from the same place, that they can succeed too, if they try.
My family and I would benefit greatly from this award, for I am a single mother who loves her kids dearly and wants to provide for them the best I can.
Thank you so much for taking the time and consideration on my application for this bursary.
