TD Aboriginal Nursing Award – Baccalaureate
I was very happy and grateful when I discovered that I was awarded the Canadian Nurses Foundation TD Aboriginal Nursing Fund Award. I have worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for eight years in areas such as medical, surgical, psychiatry, extended care, residential care, and geriatric care. Included in my nursing experience are positions where I was able to work with Aboriginal peoples as a community health care worker and as a LPN working with an Aboriginal pediatric client. As a Metis individual, I found working with other Aboriginal people very rewarding.
Receiving this award will greatly help me as I enter my third year of my Bachelor of Science in Nursing where I can continue toward my goal of becoming a Registered Nurse with an increased and more advanced knowledge in the nursing field. As an RN I hope to continue to meet the need of working with Aboriginal communities.
