Courtney Laginski

TD Aboriginal Nursing Fund Award – Master’s

My name is Courtney Laginski and I am in my final year in the Master of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner program at Athabasca University.  My pursuit of continued education has not come without struggle, but fortunately has come with great inspiration and success. I am a proud Metis that seeks every opportunity for growth and inspiration; most often I find both in the urban Aboriginal community that I serve. I am fortunate that the community I love to serve also inspires me daily. My career in nursing as an RN in the ER has opened my heart to the richness and depth of Aboriginal health and wellness; and I foresee more of this as I prepare to embark on a new journey into primary care as a Nurse Practitioner. I can only hope that I can inspire my community as much as they have inspired me.

I am deeply grateful for the generosity that both the Canadian Nurses Foundation and the TD Aboriginal Nursing Fund Award have shown me. Without generous programs such as these, the rising cost of continuing education would be too great; I am deeply honored to be a recipient.

Giving Tuesday has become a global movement for giving and marks the beginning of the giving season for your favourite causes. Thank you for joining Canadian Nurses Foundation today as we celebrate our 10th annual campaign. Double your gift today!

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
