Lynn Henderson

Nova Scotia Nurses Association Award

My name is Lynn Henderson and I have been a registered nurse for seventeen years. Nursing has taken me to different countries and I have worked in many different fields. I am currently living in the beautiful Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia and working for Nova Scotia Telecare. I am also a member of the Canadian Red Cross Emergency Response Unit and spent a month at a refugee camp in Jordan in 2013. My work with the Canadian Red Cross has motivated me to return to school to earn my BScN. Seeing the lack of women’s healthcare in the world has inspired me learn more about global health and become involved in raising the standards of care regarding maternal child health. It is very humbling to become aware of the variations of healthcare that are accessible in the world, especially in the field of reproductive health. Living in a privileged society, I also hold a privileged role as an RN; I am grateful for this privilege and am committed to using my knowledge and experience to improve the lives of others and alleviate human suffering. As a global citizen, it is important to me to be an agent of change and to raise our three children to find their own roles as global citizens. I am extremely grateful for this scholarship which enables me to continue my studies to make my goals a reality and work to improve global healthcare. Thank you.

Giving Tuesday has become a global movement for giving and marks the beginning of the giving season for your favourite causes. Thank you for joining Canadian Nurses Foundation today as we celebrate our 10th annual campaign. Double your gift today!

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
