John Vanderlee Award

Nursing is a profession that has developed my scholastic and clinical practice by presenting many demanding and fulfilling environments. As a 3rd year nursing student I have had practice in acute and community care settings, which has allowed me to develop a widespread scope of practice. Over the course of the last couple years I have learned how to provide patients, families, and communities with competent and compassionate care. During the continuation of my program I hope to build on my level of knowledge and continue to provide this same quality of care.

By receiving this award I will be able to continue my education towards the remainder of my bachelor’s degree at the University of the Fraser Valley. Furthermore, I will have the ability to pursue my interest in the practice area of Pediatrics and concussions. I aspire to specialize in Pediatric Neurology and one day would like to pursue Master’s and Doctoral level education.

I am flattered and privileged to receive the John Vanderlee Award from the Canadian Nurses Foundation. This donation to my education will allow myself to enter the health care field with less of a financial burden and focus on the profession. I am inspired to keep advancing my academic and professional limits. Thank you for the support of my current and future endeavors.
