Trisha-Lee Metro

Virginia Lindabury Award

I began my journey as a nurse in 2003 as an LPN. I have since nursed in Canada, Britain, NZ and Australia. I returned to Canada in 2011 eager to move forward in my career and entered the LPN-BSN access program at UBC-Okanagan. I am currently going into my fourth year, and I am truly excited to have nearly reached this long-term goal. I currently have the privilege of working as an ESN alongside some fantastic nurses on the cardiac medical floor at Kelowna General Hospital. From past experience I know that my future in nursing will most likely be incredibly satisfying, challenging, varied and will continue to be one of the most important character building components of my life. I have committed much more than my career to nursing, and have learned that nursing is a calling, a passion and a gift-far more than just a job.

I hope to start my career in cardiac medical, moving into critical care/emergency experience, and finally extending into the realms of rural, travel and community street nursing. A long-term goal of mine is to continue my contribution to nursing by becoming a nurse practitioner. I cannot thank the CNF and all of the donors for the extremely generous contributions that you have all provided for so many others and myself. Although I may never meet any of you in person, I am forever grateful for your charity and kindness, and I hope one day to be able to pay it forward.

Giving Tuesday has become a global movement for giving and marks the beginning of the giving season for your favourite causes. Thank you for joining Canadian Nurses Foundation today as we celebrate our 10th annual campaign. Double your gift today!

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
