RBC Diversity in Nursing Fund Award

My name is Tatyana and I am taking a bridging program for internationally educated nurses in Kwantlen Polytechnic University, BC.

It is a big honor for me to be a nursing student in Canada as it gives me special experience that is engaging and challenging at the same time. However, respect that nurses enjoy here is worth time, effort and money spent. This is what I am doing now working hard on gaining knowledge and experience in order to be able to work as a nurse locally. I found that nursing in Canada incorporates balanced teamwork and autonomy, collaboration and independence. For this, nurses should be well prepared both academically and clinically. My school is not easy for me as many things are different from what I learnt before and used to do. I am learning many skills from a fresh start and I am happy to have wonderful instructors I can learn from. I am also buying extra materials like books and DVDs of nursing skills, medical kits to practice skills in and outside school in order to progress through my studies.

I am hoping the award will help me achieve my short-term goal as to focus on mastering my practical nursing skills and complete the program. This will enable me to take a license exam, hopefully pass it and start working as a nurse. This will change my life for better as I wish to be doing a very meaningful and rewarding job.  Thank you for support.
