Yvonne Andrews Award
Advocacy, social justice and health equity are central to my nursing practice. As a future health care provider, I endeavor to provide quality care to my patients as well as, address larger health policies issues through innovative research.
My past experience in health care has included working in Prison Health and advocating for prison needle syringe programs and working in rural Ontario providing maternal health care for fly-in First Nation communities. Currently, I am working in the Department of Surgery at St. Michael’s Hospital where I am conducting qualitative research on onco-fertility. As I move into my final year of nursing school, the receipt of the Yvonne Andrews scholarship will allow me to focus on my school and volunteer work.
