Judy Hill Memorial Award
I am entering my second year of the nursing program at Queen’s University. I am truly grateful for the privilege of being selected for the CNF Judy Hill Memorial Award. I am deeply appreciative of the support from all donors that make these scholarship opportunities possible.
Growing up with two parents who are nurses I have listened to many stories from their careers. The experiences in which I have always found most inspiring, were from their time spent working in Northern Canada. Upon graduation I hope to work in rural communities in Northern Canada. I believe that access to quality care for all Canadians, regardless of location is extremely important. I am interested in a career with a broad scope of practice, including both acute care and community health settings.
It has been my goal to consolidate in a northern rural community in my final year of the nursing program. With this award I am closer to being able to financially support this goal. I believe that a consolidation in Northern Canada will provide me with unique challenges and tremendous fulfillment. I hope to make a positive impact on the health of the community in which I work, as well as patient care.
