Nursing is not only my profession, it’s my passion. I feel rewarded serving my community and being a light during someone’s dark times. It was my grandfather’s passing that made me realize I wanted to make others feel the same way those nurses made me feel: loved, supported and understood.
In June 2018, I was able to add RNBN to my name as I received my Bachelor of Nursing. I immersed myself in bilingual and rural hospitals. Excited to further my studies, I started the Master of Nursing Program – Nurse Practitioner Stream at the University of Manitoba in September 2021.
I was initially attracted to become a nurse practitioner when my father started working on Southern Health-Santé Sud’s Mobile Clinic. The primary care clinic travels across the province with a nurse practitioner providing care to clients living where healthcare is not as easily accessible. Working in the emergency has raised my awareness regarding the shortage of primary care providers. Many clients have a lack of knowledge around leading healthy lifestyles, disease prevention and illness management.
As a French Métis nurse practitioner, I believe I can serve as a leader by improving access to health services in Southeastern Manitoba.
