Isabelle Savard

TYLENOL® Fund to Advance Diversity in Nursing and Health Equity Research

My name is Isabelle Savard, a primary health care nurse practitioner (PHCNP) dedicated to making a positive impact on people’s lives. Since childhood, I’ve found fulfillment in volunteering and helping others, which greatly influenced my decision to pursue nursing. With experience in emergency departments since 2008, I’ve gained invaluable insights into diverse patient care. As a PHCNP since 2014, I provide holistic care to a wide range of patients.

Alongside my clinical work, I am privileged to serve as a nursing faculty member at Université du Québec en Outaouais. Educating and training the next generation of compassionate and competent PHCNPs is a true passion for me.

Driven by an awareness of my privilege and the existing societal disparities, I am dedicated to defending equitable access to healthcare and amplifying the voices of those marginalized by our system. The holistic approach to nursing, addressing bio-psycho-social-spiritual needs, resonates deeply with me. While caring for individuals and families brings me satisfaction, my true passion lies in working with people in vulnerable situations facing barriers to healthcare.

I am honored to receive support from the Canadian Nurses Foundation for my doctoral project at McGill University. This research aims to explore the added value of PHCNPs in caring for people in vulnerable situations. Through this work, I strive to positively influence the implementation of PHCNPs working with people in vulnerable situations, improving access and quality of care for them in their communities.

Giving Tuesday has become a global movement for giving and marks the beginning of the giving season for your favourite causes. Thank you for joining Canadian Nurses Foundation today as we celebrate our 10th annual campaign. Double your gift today!

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
