Judy Hill Memorial Award
As I continue through my nursing studies I am pulled towards many different aspects of nursing, and while I am not certain where I will end up, remote/northern nursing is an area of great appeal. I have seen the difference between towns where passionate people foster a sense of community, and towns where this has not been the case. In pursuing this area of nursing I will strive to support people in achieving greater agency over their health and wellbeing and deliver care in a collaborative and culturally safe manner.
My interest in advocacy prompted me to get involved with the Student Nurse Advocacy Program, of which I am currently the co-chair. We are a student-driven advocacy and mentorship program with a mandate to create a safe and supportive place for nursing students to help each other and to facilitate positive student-faculty relationships ships.
Being chosen as the recipient for the Judy Hill Memorial scholarship is a great honour. I am so grateful for the support and generosity of the Canadian Nurses Foundation, which is invaluable in continuing to pursue my studies.
