CeraVe Skincare Scholarships for Diversity and Equity
Hello, my name is Kaileen Gordon, and I am entering my fourth year of nursing studies at the University of Alberta. As a Métis individual from Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement, a northern Indigenous community in Alberta, my journey into nursing has been deeply influenced by my cultural roots, personal experiences, and a strong desire to care for others.
My decision to pursue nursing is driven by my genuine love for people and a passion for providing care. I believe nursing offers a unique opportunity to positively impact people’s lives across all aspects of their health. I am eager to contribute to this impact and ensure it remains a positive force in people’s lives.
Another aspect of nursing that draws me in is its constant challenge and opportunity for continuous learning throughout one’s career. Over the past nine years, I have worked as a Health Care Aide with Alberta Health Services in various hospital settings including emergency, acute care, palliative care, labor and delivery, and long-term care. This hands-on experience has profoundly shaped my decision to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse. It has given me a firsthand understanding of the nursing role, working closely with patients and the nursing team.
I am committed to bringing my experience, compassion, and dedication to my future role as a nurse. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow in the field of nursing, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those I care for.
