Senator Norman Paterson Award
I pursued a registered nursing career due to my exposure to the acute care environment as a young volunteer. This volunteer position developed my interest to work with patients, families, and other healthcare and allied health disciplines. As a result, I pursued a bachelor of nursing degree, and have engaged in several domains of nursing practice: clinical practice (acute care & corrections), education (nursing instructor), and research (graduate student). Furthermore, my continuous engagement in volunteerism has contributed to my professional development as a registered nurse.
I am very grateful for the Canadian Nurses Foundation for presenting me the Senator Norman Patterson award. As a graduate student, this award will assist me in advancing Canadian correctional nursing practice.
