CNSA 2SLGBTQIA+ Award
Howdy! My name is Ryan, and I am 3rd year BSN student at the College of the Rockies in partnership with the University of Victoria. When I am not studying or researching, I enjoy gaining meaningful work experience at a long-term care facility as a registered healthcare aide. Working with older adults and getting to know their families is gratifying. If I am not studying or working, you can catch me with a book near one of our many lakes, working out, trying a new restaurant with friends, volunteering in the community, or traveling! I like to keep busy and multitask which aligns perfectly with the nursing profession. I became a nurse because I truly believe in the work nurses do for our society and communities. The impact a nurse can make while caring for others and their families in their most vulnerable moments is simply a gift that not everyone experiences. No two shifts are identical and there is always something to learn is exciting to me. Nursing school has made me more aware of myself, and the interactions I have to make every day special. It is all about relationships and connections! To be a CNF Scholar for the CNSA 2SLGBTQIA+ Award is important for me because I strive to provide a safe space where people can be their true authentic selves. I proudly wear a pride flag on my scrub uniform to support and represent this value. This I feel contributes to making our healthcare systems diverse, inclusive and equitable for all who access it.
