CNSA Community Involvement Award

My decision to pursue nursing was solidified during the pandemic when my job as a dental hygienist was suspended and I sat at home feeling useless while other medical professionals were being over worked. I wanted to help, then when a family member was hospitalized, I saw firsthand how nurses serve as the backbone of healthcare, providing critical care and emotional support during some of life’s most challenging moments.

As I delved deeper into the field, I became fascinated by the blend of science and human connection that nursing offers. The opportunity to apply medical knowledge while forming meaningful relationships with patients appealed to both my intellectual curiosity and my empathetic nature.

Moreover, I was drawn to the versatility of a nursing career. The prospect of working in various settings from hospitals and clinics to schools and community health centres excited me. I saw nursing as a profession that would allow me to continually learn, grow, and adapt to the evolving healthcare landscape.

Ultimately, I chose nursing because it aligns perfectly with my values and aspirations. It offers me the chance to combine my passion for science, my desire to help others, and my commitment to making a positive impact on society. As I progress through my nursing education, I am more convinced than ever that this is my calling. I look forward to a fulfilling career where I can touch lives, promote health, and be a source of comfort and healing for those in need.
