SANOFI Vaccines Scholarship in Public or Community Health
I chose to become a nurse after experiencing the care and dedication nurses provided to me as a patient. Being able to pay this act forward has made my career immensely fulfilling. I used my experiences as a patient to inform my practice. Remembering the struggle I experienced transitioning as an inpatient back to living at home motivated me to pursue a career working in community health. I quickly developed a desire to work in substance use and mental health to help navigate an already complex system for those further marginalized. As a harm reduction and mental health nurse, I have been privileged to work alongside passionate clinicians going above and beyond to bring healthcare to this population. Watching them work has informed my practice and fuels my desire to contribute through research.
I feel incredibly lucky to be able to bring my experiences as a nurse to academia through my studies as a Masters of Science in Nursing student. My research interests lie in optimizing service provision and determining how clinicians, peers, and clients develop methods of coping with systematic shortcomings. I am extremely honoured to receive the CNF Sanofi Vaccines Scholarship in Public or Community Health as this award allows me to delve further into my thesis and future research endeavors.
