CNSA Research Award

You may wonder how a classical singer found her way into a nursing program.  Well, it all started with the passing of my grandfather.  In the hospital, I saw many health care professionals come and go.  What left the biggest impact was the positive effect a caring nurse could provide to a patient, and their family.  This inspired me to volunteer at a senior’s center as part of the mobility initiative.  While there, I further saw the care the nursing staff poured into their patients and I was inspired.  I have always been a person who loves to take care of people and I couldn’t understand why I hadn’t seen before that nursing was the career for me.  It blended perfectly the aspects of human anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology, with the ability to care for patients not only a physical level, but on a spiritual, and emotional level.

I am currently half way through the BCIT Bachelor of Nursing Science and am thankful for the opportunity to be part of such an amazing field.  I aspire to specialize in high acuity, or intensive care and am building my confidence so that I can become the best patient advocate possible.  While studying music, I served as a research assistant and I aspire to continue research in the nursing field.

I am honored to be receiving CNF CNSA research award which will help me be able to focus on my studies by alleviating some financial stress.
