Dr. Kathryn Hannah Award

I have been a nurse educator for the past 18 years, teaching at Thompson Rivers University – Williams Lake campus, a small rural campus in British Colombia. I also have over 25 years of national and international practice experience in a variety of settings. Born in Montreal, Quebec, I graduated in 1997 from the University of Ottawa with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and completed a master’s degree in Nursing at l’Université de Montréal in 2001. I have always had a keen interest in technology, and I am always looking to integrate technology into the classroom or practice. In 2013, I piloted a small research project on the use of tablet devices in a nursing program. This project ignited my desire to further my education and continue to learn more about the impact of mobile technologies in nursing education. I am presently studying at the University of Alberta in the Doctoral Nursing, online cohort. My research will explore nurse educators’ utilization and experiences with integrating mobile technologies to support teaching and learning in undergraduate nursing education. I am trilled to be a recipient of the Dr. Kathryn J. Hannah Nursing Informatics Scholarship award. It’s an acknowledgement of my potential for future success and will help to support my doctoral research work.
