Natasha Lennam

CNSA Impact Award

I have just completed my second year of my BScN degree at Camosun College and will be entering my third year in the fall. I have also completed a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology at UBC.

Prior to entering nursing, I worked as a mental health support worker for women struggling with mental wellness and addictions. Throughout my 4 years working in this field I met a number of healthcare professionals, including street nurses, whose advocacy, support and non-judgmental approaches to healthcare improved the lives of the women I worked with. At this point I decided to pursue my nursing degree so I could better serve the community.

The challenges of nursing school have only reinforced that I have made the right decision in pursuing nursing. I have taken on leadership roles within my program, organized student events and collaborated with community organizations to educate students on HIV/AIDS and PrEP.

I am deeply grateful to the Canadian Nurses Foundation for recognizing my endeavours and awarding me with the CNSA Impact Award. I will continue to uphold the values of the CNSA and improve health outcomes in my community. I am delighted to be a CNF scholar.
