Andrew Hart

CNSA Education Award

My name is Andrew Hart and I am a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) student at the Centre for Nursing Studies through Memorial University of Newfoundland. I decided to pursue a career in nursing for my deep passion for healthcare. From a young age, I always admired healthcare professionals and dreamt of one day working alongside them. I was especially drawn to the idea of making a difference in people’s lives, especially during some of their most vulnerable moments. Nursing felt like the perfect way to combine my passion for caring with my interest in health and wellness.

Throughout my journey thus far, I have learned that nursing practice is not about treating the illness–rather it is about seeing the person as a whole. This perspective has profoundly shaped how I approach my everyday nursing practice and will continue to guide my outlook as I grow in my nursing career.

Outside of my studies and work, I enjoy hiking, shopping, reading, and participating in local musical theater. These moments recharge me and remind me how important balance is, even in such a meaningful career.

For me, nursing is far more than a job; it’s a calling. Every day, I am grateful everyday for the decision I made to enter this profession and for the opportunity to serve others in this meaningful way.

We know that helping nurses and nursing students is a team effort. More qualified nurses, more nurse-led research, more nurses and nursing students supported with mentoring and proactive mental health programs and training – that’s the outcome of your support. This leads to a stronger, more robust healthcare system for Canada.

Your support today, on Giving Tuesday, empowers us to set ambitious goals, strengthen our resources, and show that our collective generosity fuels the next generation of nurses. Let’s make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most impactful yet, proving that our collective kindness can create lasting change.
