CNSA Environmental Stewardship Award

This fall I will be entering my fourth year of nursing school. Only one more year, time flies! The more I learn about the nursing profession, the more I know it’s the right path for me. Looking back, I don’t know how I didn’t see it sooner! I was the kid that had a first aid kit at the ready, and was often the one who would sit with others if they weren’t feeling so great. It made me happy to know that I had the ability to help people. Being able to turn this caring feeling into a career combined with science and critical thinking is a true privilege.

My interest in maternal-child and women’s health has really blossomed over the past year. I thoroughly enjoyed my placement on the obstetrics and gynaecology unit and I was saddened when it ended abruptly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Back in Kingston, I am the Co-Chair for Queen’s Period, a club focused on achieving menstrual equity in our community. This year, I look forward to providing further education about sustainable ways to manage periods such as cloth pads and menstrual cups.
