CeraVe Skincare Scholarships for Diversity and Equity
Nursing has always been a passion of mine and a profession I envisioned being a part of from a young age. It is one of the most trusted professions, one that is adaptive, holistic and person – centered and one that provides many opportunities for you to challenge yourself and grow. I’ve been working with the senior population as a CCA since I migrated to Canada in 2017 but reduced my hours to pursue full time studies in nursing. Those years up until this point have been among the most fulfilling and rewarding years of my life. I work mostly with persons living with dementia, I care for palliative clients, and I also provide homecare to the most vulnerable. I choose nursing because of my passion for caring, my desire to show up, be empathetic and provide the best care possible to those I look after.
This fall I will be entering the second year of my bachelor’s degree in nursing at Dalhousie University. I am very appreciative to have been given the opportunity to start this journey as it wasn’t an easy one. So far, on my journey as a nursing student I am understanding the true meaning of providing genuine, empathetic, compassionate, and individualized care to those in need and to those who I currently provide care to. I believe being a nurse goes beyond what the eyes can see, it takes a caring heart, a genuine love for the profession, a desire to help people at their worst through some of the toughest, most intimate moments and to put a smile on their faces when they need it the most. These are some of the foundations I live by as I journey through nursing school, as I develop the essential skills and knowledge and as I transition into the nursing profession.
It is such a great honor to be a CNF 2022 scholar. Thank you, CNF, for assisting me on this journey and for believing in me.
