Ovarian Cancer Canada Award
It is an honour to be supported by the Canadian Nurses Foundation and Ovarian Cancer Canada as I complete my final year of the Direct-Entry MSc(A) program at the McGill University Ingram School of Nursing. After my undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of British Columbia, I decided to continue my education in nursing. My desire to become a nurse is driven by the opportunity it gives me to make personal connections with patients and their families. My current research project looks at the experience of women who are waiting for gynecological cancer surgery. It is hoped that the results of this study will deepen the understanding of this waiting experience and help guide the development of further practice guidelines for this population.
This award has given me the financial flexibility to take the Oncology Nursing Distance Education Course with the Alberta Health Services. Through this course, I will gain a broad base of knowledge on which I can further explore my growing interest in oncology nursing. I sincerely thank you for this generous award.
