Award Recipient

Celeste McEwan

CNSA Nursing Student Award

I’m incredibly honoured and grateful to receive this scholarship from the Canadian Nurses Foundation. Your support has lightened the load of nursing school and allowed me to focus on becoming a compassionate, caring, and capable nurse.

I chose to pursue nursing out of a desire to serve my small community of Nelson, BC. I wanted a career where I could support people during some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives. My first year of nursing school was full of eye-opening, challenging, and beautiful experiences that affirmed I’m on the right path. Each experience has helped shape me into the nurse I aspire to be.

While I feel drawn to many areas of nursing, I’m especially interested in public and community health. I’m passionate about health promotion, harm reduction, and culturally safe care. I believe everyone deserves respectful, high-quality care no matter where they live or what they’re going through. This summer, I’ve found employment as a support worker for individuals with disabilities and truly love the work.

Receiving this scholarship means the world to me. It eases the financial pressures of school and reminds me that others believe in my journey. I look forward to giving back as a nurse who leads with humility, compassion, and a deep respect for the people I serve.
