CeraVe Skincare Scholarships for Diversity and Equity
My name is Charity Uche, and I am currently a nursing student at Nunavut Arctic College (NAC) in Iqaluit, Nunavut. I have a profound love for reading and researching health issues and exploring different cultures and their impact on healthcare. Caring for people, particularly children and those who are unwell, is my true passion. During every summer break, I work as a nursing student intern at the Qikiqtani General Hospital, gaining valuable experience in patient care.
My interest in health began during my childhood. I was endlessly fascinated by the human body and how it worked. Whenever I experienced health issues like headaches or sickness, I would delve into research to understand the underlying causes. However, my curiosity was ignited when my father suffered a stroke shortly after my high school graduation. The compassion and kindness shown by the nurses caring for him left a deep impression on me. Following my father’s passing, my desire to positively impact people’s lives through patient care became unwavering. Volunteering for smoking cessation programs and sexual health initiatives at the high school further solidified my dedication to healthcare.
Choosing a career in nursing was a natural and fulfilling decision, allowing me to continue doing what I am genuinely passionate about. I am proud of the bold step I have taken to pursue nursing and am eager to complete my nursing degree program to start contributing significantly to society.
