I am currently a nursing student at the University of New Brunswick, a mother of 3 beautiful kids and a wife to my partner. At 11 years old, I spent most of my days in the hospital for almost a month due to my father’s sickness, which eventually led to his death. My father’s death drastically changed the course of my life. I was forever changed by seeing him struggle with his illness and by the nurses’ loving care. In addition to comforting my father, their professionalism and compassion helped my family through those trying times. My ambition to become a nurse—a profession that embodies care, compassion, and dedication—was sparked by this encounter. Serving others in their hour of greatest need is why I see nursing as a calling, not just a career. My father’s passing gave me a sense of duty and motivated me to be a strong and supportive person for anyone dealing with health issues. My family, who have always looked up to me, expects me to change the world, and being a nurse gives me the ideal platform to do it. Choosing nursing is also strongly motivated by the professionalism that goes along with it. It requires a dedication to moral behaviour, critical thinking, and ongoing learning. As a nurse, I aim to offer comprehensive treatment by fusing my life experiences with my training. Thanks to the combination of nursing expertise and sensitivity, patients are guaranteed medical care and emotional support, which is essential for their general health.
